Shelbey Manthorpe: Prep Volleyball Senior National Player of the Year Finalist

Prep Volleyball has named the 18 Orange’s Shelbey Manthorpe a National Player of the Year Finalist!  We know that Shelbey’s “massive impact” on her 2010 Merion Mercy Academy squad led them to an undefeated season; their 4th straight State Title; earned her  consecutive State Tournament MVP accolades, and a Gatorade Pennsylvania Player of the Year Award, but who knew it would make her one of the top 41 High School Seniors in the country!?  OK…maybe we did.  Congratulations, Shelbey!

Emma Aldaya: Prep Volleyball National Freshman of the Year Finalist

On January 20th, the 15 Orange’s Emma Aldaya was named as one of the top 25 High School players in the country by Prep Volleyball!  The accomplishment is based on a player’s overall – “massive” – impact on their high school team.  At only 5-2, anyone who has seen her play knows she’s a giant on the court.  Emma can add this  to her 2010 State Tournament Defensive MVP and 2010 All State Team recognition she garnered at the end of last season.  Congratulations Emma!

13 Orange Bring Home Gold

The 13 Orange started off the new year, and new season, on a high note on Sunday by winning the Columbia 14′s Tournament in Maryland! They finished first in their pool with an 8-1 record giving them a bye going into playoffs. After enjoying a well deserved rest and some good food from the food table (provided by our parents), they beat a very talented WACO 14′s team in the semis. Beating them in just 2 sets, they avenged their only loss in pool play. The 13 Orange then went on to the finals, dispatching the DC Juniors 14′s in 2 sets and compiling a 12-1 record for the day!

The bar has been set, Synergy! Congratulations girls!
