Club director Rich Johnson led the 2011-12 17 Orange team to the first ever national championship by an East Coast volleyball club, the latest in a long-line of winning teams. His 2010-11 18 Orange team won the Big South qualifier and placed 2nd in the Open division at nationals. Coach Johnson also took his Merion Mercy Academy team to four consecutive state AA titles, finishing his Merion career with a stunning 128-4-2 record. Since 2005, 40 Synergy teams have advanced to the USAV Girls’ Junior National Championships under his leadership. In 2011, Coach Johnson was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.
